Ashley Begley
The afternoon drawing class created some images based on hidden places in their worlds, such as closets, junk drawers, inside and outside of purses, art bins, etc.; above are examples. They explored the complexity of those spaces and the accumulation of identifying objects, even revealing secrets that they wouldn't want someone to find by rummaging through these private places. As the semester begins to build momentum toward their final projects and portfolios, it is becoming evident that they are all showing some remarkable improvements in their drawing process.
Connie has include the entire group of drawings in her photobucket:

I am so thrilled that my shoes are on here. I think the whole class has improved and we are working hard on the next project. I have lots of ideas but I want to pick the right one.
ReplyDeleteThey were great to begin with and now after seeing the slight changes they look even better! All of your all's were great as a matter of fact.
ReplyDeleteThe next one has so many different angles and alleys to go down it will definitely be hard to find something concrete to go with.
On another note after staring at all the presidents today I think I have heard more about them since class than I have in quite a while. Way more than necessary.
ReplyDeleteJerrye I absolutely love your shoes. They look much better then your man face ... I mean self portrait you did hehe j/k. I'd have to say that Rachel's purse is my favorite. i love that I feel like I can actually reach in and pull anything out of it. Its great!
ReplyDeleteThings are a little hard to read sometimes, in this smaller computer version but I think that Ashley's and Rachel's tend to draw me into the scene the best. Think this makes the image more intriguing.
ReplyDeletethe first and last ones drew me into the scene the best as well. I think they all are very successful. this was one of my favorite projects from intro drawing.
ReplyDeleteEveryone's drawings turned out great. I think I like Ashley's the best. It looks like you could just grab something right off the page and start using it.
ReplyDeleteAshley's drawing shows so much detail. The wood grain on the paint brusshes is unbelievable. It looks very real and textured. Rachels turned out to be very nice too. I have seen her carry this purse to class, it's an exact replica!
ReplyDeleteRachel's purse turned out very nicely..I think that everyone did a great job on this project and it is easy to see how much we are improving.
ReplyDeleteWow! all of these drawings turned out great! Rachel I like yours it's very life-like. Jerry I like how you added more light to your drawing as well.

ReplyDeleteI love all of these drawings! Before the critique it was evident that as a whole they weren't fully processed but now, wow! All of these are great improvements from what they were at the critique (especially my 1/3 finished one).
ReplyDeleteThis project took a lot of time!! I'm almost afraid for how much time the next drawing is going to take, but I'm enjoying it. I'm so excited for the final. I having a feeling that it is going to be real interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed working on this project. Although, my "hidden places" are usually hidden for a reason. I really like all the pictures that have been put up.
ReplyDeleteI agree Ashley about the presidents. However, I really enjoyed drawing them, even if Ethan did think mine was Barack Obama.
ReplyDeleteI have learned so much this semester in my drawing class with Brian that I am returning sooner than later and spending time again with my friends in another drawing class.I feel that if I continue at this point , I will be progressing faster and getting in the practice that I need.
ReplyDeleteConnie has also blogged so much that the rest of us can not possibly catch up. We must stop her from blogging. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really liked the shoes after I figured out the lighting problem too. I think it really highlights the shoes that need to stand out. I am so glad that I figured out that wavy floor.
ReplyDeleteI am also in awe of the purse and the way everything looks inside of it. The purse looks so real and the attention to detail is wonderful , especially the draw string.Great work Rachel.
ReplyDeletei love the way kimberley's bear turned out...it looks amazing and so real
ReplyDeleteI like all of these pictues i think that all of them turned out real well. all the artist done a really good job at making them look so real.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to go to the Open House but work calls. I hope it turns out well and lots of people show up.
ReplyDeleteI always look at the random classic art and of course it is always something that I like. I do wonder how an online photography course would work? It would be difficult to keep up with people's works.
ReplyDeleteI am trying my best to get it all of my blogs and I think I am going to make it. LOL I haven't seen Connie on here in a few days!!! Just kidding Connie.
ReplyDeleteI really like this project. I never had to do it myself, but I've always liked looking at the results from other classes. I also think its funny how some shoes always find their way into the works.
ReplyDeleteLol..I just realized why I came up with my title so easily for this drawing..because it's the title Brian used for the project. Sorry Brian..
ReplyDeleteThese drawings look great! Everyone has improved so much over the semester! Thanks for posting the drawings Brian! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! I love how the light and shadows are portrayed. I will never stop loving graphite and paper ^_^
ReplyDeleteHopefully this blog entry will finally work!!! I am delighted to see my drawing on here!! I feel like a superstar! This was one of my favorite projects to do. Alot of aspects of my life are in that drawing. I think EVERYONE did a fantastic job!!
ReplyDeleteit worked!!! but I had to register with google (FYI Brian)
ReplyDeleteI think our class has come along way in becomming better artist.. i like to see peoples progress
ReplyDeleteart is something that i have always enjoyed but i never was any good at it..i hate to see this semester end because i would like to keep going and become better at drawings
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the "improvements" that I have made on my drawing since the begining of the semester. I have discovered that I really like the vine charchol and that I'm actually kinda good at it.
ReplyDeleteI really like vine charcoal also...it is really easy to work with and allows you to lay down a drawing quickly.
