Thursday at the Falls of the Ohio
It looks like we'll get another chance to be outside tomorrow, so I'll meet you at the railroad bridge. That is, of course, provided some freak storm doesn't roll in, in which case we'll be in the studio. The forecast is very promising until about 5:00 in the afternoon. See you in the morning.

i'm so excited to be going outside again...yeah for nice weather.
ReplyDeleteare they due at the begining or end of class
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to confirm that it's JUST the sketchbooks that are due tomorrow. I was under the impression that the portfolios were due on Monday when we have our individual criques.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought.... Tomorrow I'm thinking of going to the SAME spot and trying the same view in oil pastels. Has anyone else thought of doing something like that?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I saw a video on the internet and they used what looked like q-tips to blend the oil pastels. Has anyone tried anything like that for blending?
Yes! Brian told me to "blend" the oil pastels better I could use a q-tip, and linseed oil...(i think thats how you spell it) I'll bring some with me tomorrow and you can see if it works for you.
ReplyDeletep.s. lets hope the sketchbooks are due at the end of class because I wanted to get a few quick ones in from where I am sitting...
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Let me know what I owe you for the oil.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm OK on the sketch book. I've worked pretty hard with that planning for my series. But I'll hope for you and the others that need a couple more that he has mercy on our souls. :) I mean, this IS the summer session.
I am hoping to finish the charcoal that I started on day 1 at the Falls and to start another. I am planning a trip already in a few weeks to come back over and to do some more drawings with some friends. I am really looking forward to some time off of school and it is funny that I am planning things that include drawing. What has happened to me?LOL
ReplyDeleteFor our series, do the drawings have to be in the order we completed them in or can they be arranged in a different manner? I am planning on having 9 pictures and I want to do 3 x 3 on a matte board, but some pictures are different sizes, so to make the composition and presentation look good, the pictures might need to be out of order.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good question Daphne. Personally, I will be doing my series in an orderly fashion by quality. The two cloud pieces I had up will actually be third and fourth of the final six. In other words, I will be doing two clouds that will go be in front of them and two clouds behind them. The purpose of my series is for the clouds to progress in detail as you move your eye across the other ones.
ReplyDeleteSo, to answer your question, no I will not be doing my series in the order they were done in.
I am actually very happy that today we are going to Falls of Ohio because I still have to finish my first drawing and begin my second. Lets hope I can finish both today. I'm crossing my fingers....
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to bring your sketchbooks, haha
