Artists' Sketchbooks On Line

This is a pretty interesting web site with lots of artists' journals.  Spend some time with it off and on during the semester for inspiration and motivation for working in your own sketchbooks. Some of the links may be expired, but there are a lot that function taking you to some pretty amazing pages about images and ideas, both historical and contemporary.

  1. I started looking at the site you posted and it got me searching a bit. I wondered which artists were famous for charcoal or sketching and I ran across this site. Obvoiously, these are some professional artists but it was really interesting to see what's possible.

  2. That's an amazing portfolio of images. Especially when you see the scale of the work. Larger isn't necessarily better, but with this kind of conceptual/narrative imagery, it sure adds to the impact. Reminds me of Sue Coe's work, Nice find, Connie.

  3. It really helped me looking over these sketchbooks. I got inspired with ideas and subject matter to draw. It is a great suggestion to look over them throughout the semester.

  4. this is a site worth taking a look at. I think an artists sketchbook is one of the most important possessions. It is a gateway to their creative process and a documentation of their journey as an artist. i will keep visiting this site
