MLK Jr. B-day

My evening drawing sections are creating images commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.  His birthday was last Thursday, 80 years old.  This Mahalia Jackson song, "I've been Buked and I've been Scorned" is the one she sang at the march on Washington in 1963 when King delivered his famous "I have a Dream" speech.  It was Jackson who shouted from the crowd, "Tell them about the dream, Martin." That may have been what propelled King into the "I have a dream" speech, which was originally titled, "Normalcy, Never Again." The drawings should be interesting, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

  2. That was a very thought provoking video. It's amazing the impact a single man can have on history and the world in life and even after death.

  3. We're all hoping for a lot of positive changes, not just in our country, but around the world. Clearly it will take efforts from all us to make those changes possible. As one of my students said last night, MLK had a dream and Obama is the realization of that dream. It's been a long road and an extremely bumpy road the past eight years. Now we wake from the dream, face the realities, and get our creative collective moving for a better planet and more peaceful and free inhabitants of that planet. Obama can't do it without all of us helping.
